Missions

Our Local Outreach

These are Concord’s own local outreach ministries. We have chosen to intentionally send resources (people, materials, and/or finances) as part of our missional strategy in partnership with these organizations, projects, and people.

Serve Days

Whether someone is serving or being served, simple acts of personal kindness can open hearts to the love of Jesus.

Each fall, we set aside a weekend for us as a whole church to go out into our community to share the love of God through practical acts of service. No matter your age or your ability, we have a place for you to serve.

Clothing Giveaways

We host two Clothing Giveaways each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These are basically gigantic, free garage sales to help those in our community.

Concord Food Pantry

The Concord Food Pantry allows us to give immediate assistance to guests and our church family in times of crisis. Connection Classes each keep a basic item stocked, and others can bring donations to the blue barrel at the Missions desk. Volunteers are not on a regular schedule at this time, but we will contact volunteers as needed.

Thanksgiving/Christmas Baskets

Each holiday season, we give dinner baskets to families who need a little extra help to provide a special holiday meal. Check your bulletin in October for details.

Homeless Outreach

Ministering to the homeless can seem overwhelming, even a little scary. A group of individuals at Concord do their part by collecting food and preparing lunches twice a month. They also assist with special giveaways and events in the community.

Community Partnerships

These are organizations that we love and encourage people to get involved with. Volunteers from Concord are already doing great things with these organizations, and you can join in, too. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer on a regular basis or for a specific project, we recommend you check out these places first.

Bridge of Hope

Bridge of Hope serves an area in the heart of St. Louis known as The Ville, helping provide primary needs like laundry, showers, clothing, meals, and more. Concord collects items for the center and sends a team to help upkeep their facilites. Volunteers are especially needed as tutors and in construction/repair assistance.

Good Neighbor Initiative

Good Neighbor Initiative
goodneighborstl.com/refugee

OASIS and the Metro Baptist Association are partners in The Good Neighbor Initiative—to connect each refugee family (most of whom don’t know Jesus) with a Christian family in the area. Befriending a family is simple and can be as involved as you want it to be, giving a face to God’s grace and love through Jesus.

Good Samaritan Center

Good Samaritan Center
5000 N Park Dr, East St Louis, IL 62204

Located in the Washington Park area of East Saint Louis, GSM offers many services including laundry facilities, showers, groceries and clothes, but the heart of the ministry is seeing lives transformed by the gospel and grown through community to enact and sustain long-term growth. Volunteers are needed to provide worship music, tutoring, and kitchen help, among other things.

Hand N Hand Pregnancy Help Center

International Food Pantry

Mission Trips

These are Concord’s missions projects. We have chosen to intentionally send resources (people, materials, and/or finances) as part of our missional strategy in partnership with these organizations, projects, and people.

Cuba Quinta Iglesia Bautista

Our partnership with Quinta Iglesia Bautista (Fifth Baptist Church) in Guantanamo City is relatively new, but we’ve seen God at work with around 300 new believers during two trips. Our next trip is in the first half of 2019, dependent on the development of Cuba’s political climate and the freedom of travel to share the gospel.

Guatemala Good Shepherd Ministries

Located just outside of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, Good Shepherd serves 13 villages in the immediate area. The training center is the heartbeat of the ministry with a goal to equip and train national believers in a culturally-relevant way, so they can reach their own people for Christ. Good Shepherd also runs a children’s home and is adding a home for older children. Concord has sent contruction teams to help build this center and is now sending teams to work with children in the villages and the orphanage.

Student Missions Trips

Students in grades 6-12 have two unique opportunities to serve. High schoolers travel out of state for a week-long project, and middle schoolers serve here in the St. Louis area over a weekend in May. Trvia Night in March funds a large portion of these efforts.

Missionary Partnerships

These are Concord’s primary missionary partnerships. We have chosen to intentionally send resources (people, materials, and/or finances) as part of our missional strategy in partnership with these organizations, projects, and people.

Annie Armstrong (NAMB)

Through your gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) supports more than 5,000 missionaries and more than 3,800 chaplains who serve in difficult places where the gospel is often not welcome.

Lottie Moon (IMB)

Each year, churches around the world help support 4,800 International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries (and their 4,000 children) who spread the gospel among 900 people groups. We partner with those missionaries by collecting a special offering each December.

Roger & Vicki Grossman (IICD Guatemala Missionaries)

Headed by Roger and Vickie Grossmann, provides a training center for pastors, youth leaders, and women to become missionaries to their own people, the Quiche Mayans. They have also begun an orphanage for children who have been abandoned by their families. In addition to the work we’ve done on the training center and the orphanage, we’ll provide two elementary and two high school scholarships for children to go to school.

Nancy Henson (Guatemala Missionary)

Missionary to Guatemala, works with villages to bring medical care, build water filters, and share the Gospel. We’ll help Nancy continue to provide nutritious rice to the children of remote villages and hold medical clinics, all the while teaching the love of Jesus.

Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse)

Gifts in shoeboxes bless children in need around the world and share the good news of Jesus. Some people piece their shoebox gifts together throughout the year, and others pack their boxes during the box collection in the fall. Still others contribute financially to provide postage for additional boxes. This project is for people of all ages, financial ability, and time available.
